Golden Fruit Salad Unverified!

The amount (4 cups) of syrup from a given can of pineapple chunks is both unbelievable and not mentioned in the preparation: what gives?


  • 1 can apricots
  • 1 can Mandarin oranges
  • 1 can chunk pineapple, drained
  • Maraschino cherries, for garnish
  • bananas


  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 Tbsp corn starch
  • 2 cups sugar,
  • 4 cups syrup from pineapple


Mix sugar, cornstarch and pineapple juice. Boil, stirring constant until thick. Cool. Mix into fruit a little at a time, stirring gently so fruits do not break. Stir in bananas just before serving. Server on lettuce and garnish with Maraschino cherries.
