Southern Pecan Pie

Southern-style Pecan Pie is the thing I like second-most in the world. Sweet Potato Pecan Pie is number one, but this isn't a recipe for that, is it now? Hush and be happy.


  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup white Karo syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 Tbl oleo
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 unbaked 19" pie shell


Beat eggs slightly. Mix in white syrup, sugar, oleo, vanilla and salt. Add pecans. Bake at 400F for 15 minutes and at 350F for 30 to 35 minutes.

**I think Oleo = Margarine for us Yankees, close enough.
