Syrup: boil syrup for 5 minutes and use hot.
Batter: Mix as for cake. Spread in buttered pan about 9x13" Keep layer thin.
Add berries. Pour hot syrup over top of berries. Bake in moderate oven 375F about 45 minutes. Serve warm or cold with coconut ice cream.
Batter rises and comes up through berries + syrup.
May use cherries, apples, peaches or apricots.
