Jerk Shrimp

Needs Research: The marinade is pretty similar to the side sauce they serve at the Tower Cafe. Out of the mixer this stuff is pretty oniony and might improve with sitting if an additional amount was set aside for an accompanying sauce.

Ingredients

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup roughly choped yellow onion
  • 1 jalepeno chilie, roughly chopped
  • 3 Tbl white wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbl soy sauce
  • 2 Tbl vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp Tabasco sauce
  • 1/4 tsp granulated garlic
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg

Other ingredients

  • 40 count (~2lbs) large chrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Preparation

Combine marinade ingredients in a food processor until smooth. Bag marinade the shrimp for 30-45 minutes. Skewer the shrimp and grill over direct high heat until shrimp are just cooked through: 2-4 minutes, turned once.

Add a bit of lime juice to the shrimp at serving time.
