December 31, 2000--HRS 2K1 The HRS shakes bad memories of dead hos and ambulances and roars back onto the scene with the last party of the 20th century! | ![]()
![]() | 26 December 2000 -- Las Trampas The Lt. Cmdr invited me along once again on his annual Boxing Day tradition of going for a romp in the East Bay hills. This trip was similar to one I'd done in spring and is a nice little hike through some pretty countryside with some nice views of the cityscape in that part of the world. A nice way to burn off a little Christmas turkey.

December 16, 2000 Chris (and Christopher) once again holds his fabulous holiday party at his (relatively) new abode down in The City. Brendan and I did a little pre-party celebrating at his house on Friday before tearing it up the next night. It was one of those weekends when you're almost glad to be back at work, safe and sound... [I'm using a new program I wrote for the first time on these, so let me know if something looks jacked up.] | ![]()
![]() | December 10, 2000 My goodness. The year is very nearly over. From it's frantic beginnings it's finally winding up. Roy once again held his annual holiday party at our house and it was another good time. As always, some old friends, new faces and good food as well as a first-time experiment in turkey frying. Rumor has it that turkies are supposed to be really good fried, but unfortunately our poor gas grill just wasn't up to the task.
November 04, 2000 My new coworker Eldon has a fishing boat and was kind enough to invite us out on the Bay for the last weekend of salmon fishing. We only came back with two fish, but it was more than enough for dinner for the each of us. | ![]()
![]() | September 28-30, 2000--Georgia's Tahoe Trip Miss Georgia started to get together this cabin trip up in Tahoe wayyy back in the early summertime. Several months of planning went into a kick-ass weekend of drinking, eating and general debauchery. We were pretty good though: only got two noise complaints.
September 9, 2000--Doug & Jen's wedding Doug finally makes a proper woman of Jen and I get to perform my second-ever wedding ceremony. A nice wedding out on an old farm: good location, good people, and the grub the night before---mmmmm. Owing to the shade, a lot of these photos didn't come out exactly stellar and I had to remove a couple for reasons well known to all, but here they be... | ![]()
![]() | September 3, 2000--Mt. Whitney After training for several months, Hank, Tom, myself and three others attempted to scale Mt. Whitney. Only one made it to the summit and two as far as this sign at 13,600'. I got as far as this and had to turn around 'cause I was ill equipped. A really challenging experience, and well worth it.
August 4, 2000--Good Bye State Net Damn, took me long enough, but I finally made it out of State Net after working there for seven years: my entire programming career to date. A nice crowd turned up at both my farewell lunch down at Sutter's fort and binge drinking fest down at the Back Door Lounge. Fortunately, some one had the foresight to take pictures... | ![]()
![]() ![]() | July 29, 2000--Wall of Fame induction
Much like the house's own (former) Wall of Shame, the Becks likewise have one that chronicles the history of the family through photos. There are very few non-Becks amongst those photos, and we were honored by being placed amongst them. Food & liquor were, of course, required to celebrate--though nearly 24 hours later I'm wondering if I really do want to be one of the Beck kids after all. I don't know if I could handle a regular infusion of Painkillers.
July 21, 2000 I needed a vacation from the Swillery and it had been a pretty good time since I had anybody over for food, so I decided to invite the crowd from the Swill over along with the rest of the gang. Turned out the rest of the gang never showed, but it was a good time with those who did. | ![]()
![]() | July 13, 2000--Jim's birthday/moving out party Jim has his first-ever party--at my parent's house--to celebrate his birthday and "graduation" from DVC, the JC he's been attending for the last five years. Better late than never, eh? Jim brought a keg and Hank and I perpetrated some oldschool Chico-style mayhem on the youngsters...and ourselves.
June 23-25, 2000--Sebastopol Kristi abandoned us (sniff!)
to go pursue a more lucrative career down in Sebastopol. While
I can't understand why she wouldn't want to be working as
chief shipper at a font house for the rest of her life, I suppose
everyone needs to make their own path in life. Anywho, she still
loves us enough to invite us down to her (folks) house for the
weekend. The ol' Bronco II just wasn't what the weekend called for
so Hertz was nice enough to lend me a Seabring, and Nick, Amy and I
were on our way... | ![]()
![]() | June 10, 2000--Chris & Christopher's housewarming Chris and Christopher got a place in southern San Francisco and had us all over to celebrate. The theme was Bohemian, circa the late 50s, early 60s--the heyday of the movement in San Francisco.
June 2-4, 2000--Roy's birthday Cheryl is full of suprises. Not only did she move Roy into their new house unexpectedly, she also invited all of us along on what Roy thought was going to be a romantic birthday weekend by themselves. Psych! | ![]()
![]() | May 19, 2000--Roy & Cheryl's housewarming Roy and Cheryl bought a cute little house over in East (east-east-EAST) Sac. The group pitched in and helped paint and prep for the move and while Roy was of in Panang, helped Cheryl move him in as a suprise. To return the favor they had us all over for a BBQ.
May 6, 2000--Drinko De Mayo Miss Vicki held her annual Drinko De Mayo fest on Seis-o De Mayo, but the spirt(s) were still there. I missed her wearing the onion top on her head, unfortunately. Damn, there was a lot of really good food there. I brought some festive tricolor jello (in the colors of the Mexican flag, natch) and learned why you let each stage set for only 45 minutes. Vicki also contribtued a bunch of shots. | ![]()
![]() | April 29, 2000--Peep2K Once again the Archbishop Dave Smith organizes the epic Sacramento Peep Off and I'm there with my camera.
April 8, 9 & 15 2000--Three Strange Days Sometimes you do a bunch of cool stuff, but its not so photogenic as some of the rest. Doesn't mean that it's any less worthy, though. Three days in the middle of spring.
| ![]() | |
![]() | April 1, 2000--April Fool's Party Pulled out the old party mat for April Fools day. The only prank pulled was, unfortunately, true-to-life (as seen here).
March 11, 2000--Molly & Dave's Wedding Just when you think the weekend before was rough, the next one comes back that much harder. Last weekend at the Mushroom was mightily trumped by the gathering for Molly and Dave's wedding downtown. A nice wedding with a lot of nice folks. Even them good Christian boys turned out okay... | ![]()
![]() ![]() | February 24-28, 2000--T2K Nearly a year after the
first expedition of State Net fools (well, the second, but the first with this crew), the gang once again hits the road to Tahoe and "Kristi's Cabin". A bit more snow this time--in all senses of the word. I'd been using the ol' digital (or "digi", as Greg had taken to calling it) for nearly a year by now and brought the ol' laptop up to unload a few.
February 14, 2000--Lonely Heart's Dinner I figured that just 'cause I'm single doesn't mean that I can't do anything on Valentine's Day, so I invited all my single friends over for dinner. We laughed, we cried, we watched clown porn. What else would you expect at a Charlie Bill Valentine's day? | ![]() ![]()
![]() | January 22, 2000--Apocalypse Almost Now I knew it was going to be an eclectic mix of fools even before the party began. It started a little slowly and sausagey, but it ended up at a good mid-sized level. My boss Raj passed on that his girlfriend Amy had thought that, probably accurately that things had been a little cliquey at the last party. Hey, no problem--people just need something in common to talk about. I'm sure, after I circulated a few times "what a drunk asshole that Charlie Bill is" was more than enough fodder to get things going...
January 15, 2000 Amazingly, it took an entire 15 days for me to find myself in a situation where I asked myself "how did I grow up to be so stupid?" Perhaps it was the fact that I was sober on New Years. We had food, we had water, what we needed was some studded tires. Oh, and maybe a few more trucks to get stuck. | ![]()
![]() | New Year's 2000 Running down the street banging on pots and pans and tear-assing down I-80, swerving around drunks: if what they say about how you spend your New Years is true, I'm in trouble. Especially considering that I was sober. All day! |
